Who this applies to
This policy covers treecaregoldcoast.com.au and the enquiries made through it. It is written to meet the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
By using this site or submitting an enquiry you accept the handling described here. If you are not comfortable with it, contact us on (07) 5230 8034 rather than submitting a form.
What we collect
Information you give us. Your name, phone number, email address, the property address the work relates to, and whatever you tell us about the job — species, size, access, photographs and the like.
Information collected automatically. Standard web server and analytics data: IP address, browser type and version, device type, pages viewed, time on page, and the referring site. This is aggregate traffic information and is not used to identify you personally.
Information from third parties. If you contact us through a directory, a search advertisement or a social platform, that service may pass on the contact details you supplied to it.
We do not collect sensitive information as that term is defined in the Privacy Act, and you should not send us any.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange a site visit
- To prepare and send a quote
- To carry out and schedule the work, and to invoice it
- To check the council approval position for the property
- To follow up after a job
- To meet legal, insurance and workplace safety obligations
- To improve the website and understand how it is used
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.
Who it is disclosed to
The contractor who does the work. This is a referral website. Enquiries are passed to independent tree contractors working on the Gold Coast, and to do the job they receive your contact details, the property address and the job description. See the disclaimer for what that relationship means.
Service providers. The form provider, email host, website host and analytics provider process data on our behalf under their own terms.
Where required by law. Courts, regulators, insurers and law enforcement, where we are legally obliged to disclose.
Some of these providers operate servers outside Australia. Where that is the case, the information may be stored or processed overseas.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies and similar technologies for basic function and for traffic analytics. Cookies are small files stored by your browser. You can block or delete them through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
Where a third-party enquiry form is embedded, that provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy terms.
Security and retention
Information is held with reasonable technical and organisational protection appropriate to its sensitivity. No transmission over the internet is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Enquiry and job records are kept for as long as needed for the purpose collected, and then for the period required by tax, insurance and limitation-period obligations — generally at least seven years for records relating to completed work. After that they are deleted or de-identified.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected. Ring (07) 5230 8034. We will respond within a reasonable period, and if we refuse access we will tell you why.
If you think your privacy has been mishandled, raise it with us first on that number so we can investigate. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
