Anything touching a powerline is an Energex job first. Ring Energex on 13 19 62, keep everyone at least eight metres clear, and treat the ground near the conductor as live. Tree crews cannot legally work on a live line.
What to tell us
The more of this you have ready, the more accurate the first number is.
- Suburb and street. Access on a Broadbeach Waters canal block, a Surfers high-rise setback and a steep Mudgeeraba acreage are three completely different jobs.
- Species, if you know it. Poinciana, fig, gum, camphor laurel, cocos palm and golden cane all behave differently and price differently.
- Height relative to the house. "Twice the roof line" is more useful than a guess in metres.
- What is underneath. Pool, pergola, shed, colorbond fence, neighbour's roof, solar array, air-conditioning unit, or open lawn.
- Truck access. Driveway width, side gate width, stairs, retaining walls and whether the tipper can get within dragging distance.
- Whether the stump stays. Grinding and full removal are different jobs and it is cheaper to book them with the tree work.
Before you book anything

What are your hours?
Seven days a week, 7am to 6pm. Storm and emergency callouts are taken outside those hours by phone. Early starts matter in summer on the Gold Coast — most crews aim to be finished with the heavy climbing work before the afternoon heat and the storm build-up.
How long does a quote take?
Someone comes out and looks at the tree, which normally happens within a few days for planned work. The quote follows in writing. Emergency work is triaged differently — you get an attendance, not a quote appointment. Nothing is priced sight-unseen because access and what sits under the tree drive the number more than the tree does.
What should I have ready when I call?
The suburb and street, the species if you know it, roughly how tall the tree is compared with the house, what sits underneath it, and whether a truck can get near it. Photographs help enormously — one from the base looking up and one from far enough back to show the whole tree and its surroundings.
