No other dollar figure appears anywhere on this site, because there is no honest way to price stump grinding, palm removal or storm work in advance without seeing the job. What follows is what moves a number within that range — and it is not what most people expect.

Height is the thing people quote first and it matters least on its own. A fifteen-metre gum on an open paddock at Guanaba and a fifteen-metre gum between a pool and a neighbour's pergola at Mermaid Waters are the same tree and nowhere near the same job.
Where the Gold Coast adds cost
Canal frontage. Broadbeach Waters, Mermaid Waters, Clear Island Waters, Hope Island and Runaway Bay blocks frequently have no vehicle access to the rear. Barge, crane or hand-carry — all of them slower.
High-rise and strata. Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach work needs committee approval, out-of-hours access and often traffic management before a saw starts.
Steep hinterland. Mudgeeraba, Tallai, Bonogin and the valleys behind Currumbin. Long gravel driveways, fall behind the house, winching.
Coastal sand. From Main Beach to Coolangatta the ground is dune sand, and sand blunts stump grinder teeth far faster than the clay at Nerang. Same stump, more time.
Approvals. If the tree is inside the City of Gold Coast vegetation management overlay, the application comes first and it has its own fee and timeframe.
How to get a quote you can compare
Get three, and make sure all three are pricing the same scope. Specifically: is the stump ground or left, is the mulch carted or dropped, is the trunk wood removed or stacked, and is traffic management included. A cheap quote that leaves a stump and a pile of rounds is not the same product.

Not by default. Grinding is a separate machine and often a separate visit, so it is normally quoted as a line item. It is almost always cheaper booked together with the removal than as a return trip, so ask for both on the one quote even if you are undecided.
Do I pay for the council application?
Council application fees are the property owner's cost and they are separate from the tree work.
