Start with the tree, not the service name
Most people ring knowing the outcome they want rather than the name of the job. A branch is over the roof. A stump is in the way of a new deck. A palm is dropping fronds on the driveway. The list below maps those problems to what is actually done about them.
Removals and reductions
Tree removal is the whole tree out — either felled in one piece where there is room to drop it, or climbed and dismantled in sections lowered on rope where there is not. On the Gold Coast the second is far more common, because most blocks have a pool, a fence line or a neighbour's roof inside the drop zone.
Tree lopping takes weight off. It is the right answer when a poinciana or fig has extended a long horizontal limb over a structure and you want the load reduced without losing the tree. It is the wrong answer when someone asks for a tall gum to be cut back to stubs — that is topping, and it produces regrowth that is weaker than what it replaced.
Tree pruning is the precise version: crown lifting for clearance, thinning to let wind through, deadwood removal, and formative pruning on young trees. Cuts are made to AS 4373 so the wound can seal.
Stumps
Stump grinding chews the stump and the buttress roots down below ground level so the ground can be turfed, paved or replanted. It leaves a hole full of grindings, which settle. Stump removal digs the stump and the root plate out entirely, and is what you need when footings, a pool shell, a retaining wall or new plumbing has to go through that ground.
Palms
Palms behave nothing like trees, which is why they get their own pages. Palm removal covers cocos, Alexandra, Bangalow and golden cane clumps, all of which are common across Gold Coast gardens and all of which need different handling — a cocos trunk is heavy and fibrous, a golden cane is a multi-stemmed clump with a wide root mass. Palm tidying and lopping is the maintenance version: dead fronds, seed heads and the dead skirt taken off before they drop.
Clearing and emergencies
Land clearing is acreage and building-envelope work at Guanaba, Maudsland, Tallai and the hinterland fringe, where the overlay position has to be established before a machine goes near the boundary. Emergency and storm work is the summer callout: split trunks, limbs across roofs and driveways, and trees leaning after saturated ground lets go.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work on body corporate and commercial sites?
Yes. Body corporate and strata sites across the Gold Coast are a large share of the work, along with schools, accommodation providers and retail centres. Those jobs usually need a written scope for the committee or facilities manager, traffic management where a truck occupies a driveway, and out-of-hours access. Say so when you call so the quote includes it.
Can one crew do the removal and the stump on the same day?
Usually, but not always. The grinder is a separate machine and sometimes a separate visit, particularly where access is tight or the stump sits behind a gate the tipper cannot reach. If you want both done in one visit, ask for it when the job is quoted so the right gear is booked.
Do you take the timber away?
Branches go through the chipper on site and the chip leaves with the truck unless you want it dropped on the garden beds, which costs nothing extra. Trunk wood is cut into rounds and removed. If you want firewood lengths left stacked, say so before the crew starts so they cut to length.
